Marcy's Animal Blog- Airedale Teenagers??!!

Guinness in the red collar, Zinc in the blue

From Auntie M: Last night was an adventure! Guinness and Zinc decided to act like teenagers!

I'm in bed at 1:30 in the morning, just beginning to drift into gentle slumber. All at once I hear thumping- bumping- running- and growling! The two Airedales- Guinness and Zinc thought a game of chase- up and down the stairs would be FUN! I thought it would stop in a moment or two. But then I heard faster bumping, running, and growling. What were they doing??!!

Now I thought I heard a banging as well. I yelled from my bed- "Knock it off, boys!" A momentary silence. Then the chase began anew. Thinking that perhaps a critter had gotten into the house, I decided to investigate! I opened the bedroom door to see two streaks of fur flying down the stairs. Feeling a bit lazy, I yelled from the top of the stairs "Alright, you two! DON'T make me come down there!!" Again, the silence only lasted a moment.

Down the stairs I came. Guinness and Zinc were wrestling in the kitchen, now in the living room, now at my feet. When they reached me they froze! BUSTED! "O.k. you two! Enough of this! It's time for bed!" I couldn't believe what happened next.

These canines hung their heads! They glanced at each other as if to say "Oh oh! We're in trouble now!" They went into the living room and laid down!

I mentioned to them that they were acting like human teenagers. They wouldn't look at me. Ha! (The leader of the pack has spoken!) Perhaps it was the hands on the hips, the stern voice, or the wild looking hair I get when I sleep- but they settled right down.

Guinness certainly looks comfy, doesn't he?

This morning I encouraged them to run hard outside and play- maybe blow off some steam, but they seemed to be a bit tired. They are back on the sofas, snoozing away as I type.

Zinc snoozing with a toy in his mouth. (Doggie pacifier?)

Perhaps I need to get them to join me in my Jane Fonda workouts? That ought to put an end to their late night shenanigans! Then again, I can't quite see them doing squats and lunges! As I laid back down I smiled to myself. I had sons- and this just seems a bit too familiar!
