From Auntie M: I first introduced you to Luna , (who I nic named "Bella Luna") when she was just a baby. She's now growing into her paws some, but has a lot of baby ways yet.
She's not too sure of me this time around. She seems to be testing me to see if I mean business, a lot like a young teen would do. I'll be spending the next few days with her, so you'll get to hear her side of the story! She's still a sweet, beautiful young pup, just smart enough to test the waters a bit.
I asked her to pose for this picture. Don't think she looks too happy about it. Ha! |
She readily obeys the commands of sit, stay, down, and her potty commands. The walking on a leash she's not great at. I realized that when we're on the dirt or yard she thinks it's play time. It's easier to train her on the leash if we're on the sidewalk! I found that if I pointed to where we were going to go and commanded "WALK"- and said it again if she hesitated, she no longer tried to eat her leash- and kept walking!!
Though she still pulls a bit, she does better with each walk! |
I started with a short walk down the sidewalk, then had her sit and praised her for doing well. With each walk, I went longer before having her stop and sit.
One bit of her morning food helped reinforce her "good walk"! |
As of our last walk today, she didn't once try to bite her leash, and hardly pulled! She catches on quickly! |
Although she's not great about standing still while being brushed, talking to her about how beautiful she is seems to help! (Typical of us females! Ha!)
True to her breed, she loves to play fetch, though I'm not willing to do this outside yet. I'm confining that activity to indoors and down the hall.
While I'm on the computer, Luna naps under the table! Sure doesn't look too comfortable to me, but she's happy!
The moment I get up, my foot space suddenly gets invaded! Ha! That's one for Luna!
We may have had a bit of a rough start, with Luna jumping, nosing, and biting her leash, but she shortly calmed down. Now we seem to be best pals- at least while her owners are away.
Tomorrow you'll hear her side of the story! (Oh oh!) Ha! That may be an interesting view of this "invader" into her life! Meanwhile I contend that "Bella Luna" suits her very well! Until tomorrow, then!
